Today, we are in Kotor, the oldest city in Montenegro, aboard Mein Schiff 6.
The entrance to the bay is beautiful. According to other guests, it is comparable to the fjords in the north.
Mein Schiff 6 is anchored off Kotor, and the lifeboats are once again in action. We booked an excursion through the cruise line.

We take the tender boat over to Kotor

Here we were greeted by our guide, who informed us that due to the expected heat, he had changed the day's program. We will first head into the city, and in the afternoon climb up the mountain.
We start through an underpass and along the city wall to the city gate.

We leave the old town and walk along the city wall towards the dock, where our bus is waiting in the parking lot for the onward journey to the cable car station.

After about 20 minutes of travel, we reach the cable car station, and we ascend the mountain. Here are some details: Elevation difference: 1,316 meters, Route length: 3,900 meters, Travel time: approx. 11 minutes.



From the cable car, you already have a great view of the bay.
Once at the top, we are greeted by really pleasant weather. However, it is hazy today. Therefore, the view is limited.


The allocated free time of 1 hour on the platform is quite tight. I would have preferred a longer stay here instead of in the crowded old town.
It was back to the tender boats. Due to the traffic, the journey took significantly longer this time. This should be planned for if you are intending to ride the cable car on your own.
Conclusion: Kotor is worth another trip. The excursion included everything as described, with a German-speaking guide.
