hey, hey...
After 2 days and 980 km, and encountering 100 flies on my windshield, I finally crossed the border into Spain. Last night I stayed at my friend's house on Ile d' Oleron, and made a quick stop at Lanacau near Bordeaux to see my brother Thomas, his wife Svenja, and the kids.
After that, I continued on for another 250 km before reaching Biarritz and Bayonne. I lost count of how many times I had to stop and pay the tolls. It felt like it would never end. The northern part of Spain surprised me with its amazing landscape. Even though I haven't seen much of it yet, I'm already impressed.
Tonight, I'm staying in a hostel because I couldn't find a camping area where I would pay less than 50 euros. I guess buying a tent wasn't a bad investment, but I doubt I'll even use it once considering the prices here and even on the east coast (and we are still a few days away from the high season!)
I met a nice German couple from Hannover and we spent some time together this evening, before I decided to treat myself to some yummy tapas... and they were soooo delicious.
The weather here is quite awful... not what I was expecting after getting my luggage ready for my motorbike yesterday. It started raining a few hours ago and a big storm came up (the taxi driver told me it's normal here in the North). So, I changed my plans and instead of staying here for another night, I will move on tomorrow and hopefully head up to Saragossa (fingers crossed that it won't rain tomorrow) - that's the big advantage of not booking any accommodation in advance :)
That's all for now... it's 2 o'clock in the morning and I should really try to get some sleep... even though it's vacation time for me. Tomorrow is waiting with some new adventures. Good night!
