Route: The Hague - Veere
Distance: 113 km
Weather: initially rainy and cool, then increasingly sunny and warmer
We start the day without breakfast and cycle straight away. A few kilometers later, we buy some food, wait for the drizzle to stop, sit in a playground, and enjoy bread with spreads and various vegetables. The ride out of the city (or are there several cities?) takes a while, then we ride through agricultural areas and finally through the outskirts of the port of Rotterdam. At one point, we even go under the sea in a tunnel.
In the afternoon, the weather becomes increasingly sunny and warm. We have our lunch break on a bench by the sea and dip our feet in the water. But not for long, as we still have several kilometers ahead of us. These mainly lead us along the coast, almost always with a view of the sea, providing a beautiful backdrop for the 'History Podcast with Nico,' who is studying for her exam in this way and having many other good conversations. We take another break near a windmill at a supermarket, buy groceries for cooking in the evening, and treat ourselves to an ice cream.
In the late afternoon, we pass a beautiful beach, and since we are ahead of schedule and it's getting hot, we spontaneously jump into the water in our underwear. The last 15 km go by quickly, and by 7 o'clock we reach our accommodation for today, which is a container on a farm with horses and amaryllis. There is no shower in the container, but there is one in the horse stable. Also nice. The evening there is relaxed, we cook and play games.
