7 From a run-down accommodation, Venice and a lot of karma.

Published: 02.11.2020

Day 7: Thursday, 29.08.2019

Route: Munich-Venezia Cycle Path

Start: Spresiano
Destination: Mestre

Distance: 74.3 km
Travel time: 3:27 h

8:13 (Nico)

We have breakfast and Alex found out that she can now get rid of ballast. Max put a relatively large stone in her bike bag during our swimming break yesterday. And he said to Anna: "I did something funny!" I don't think Alex found it funny and she probably has no more sympathy for Max because he never gets fully satisfied. Julle doesn't think that's so bad because Max might be slower because of it. That's why I secretly hope that Alex pushes the stone onto Max, then he might be even slower.

15:31 (Alex)

KARMA IS A BITCH!

Yes, I didn't find the stone action very funny. It was not that easy and I would have preferred a few beers instead. Hopefully Max feels guilty, I have thrown enough evil glances at him. But back to my first sentence: KARMA IS A BITCH, but in this case pretty awesome!

We have arrived in Mestre in the meantime. And exactly 200m before our accommodation, Max's rear tire bursts and he has to push/carry the remaining meters! I'll say it again because it's so nice: KARMA IS A BITCH! Or as Anna would say: Schadenfreude is the greatest joy.

Speaking of joy: we are already in our accommodation (you can hardly call it a hotel...) and we have noticed that we haven't really enjoyed the fact that we have reached our destination! It's a strange feeling... But here the motto "The journey is the destination" is absolutely true!

After we have powdered our noses and freshened up, we will probably still make our way to Venice, but definitely to the sea. So now I can also use the shower, where probably only cold water comes after the other two have used it. But I need cooling down anyway!

PS: KARMA IS A BITCH!

16:00 (Julle)

Anna and I are currently chilling in the beds, Alex is rummaging around and the others have their own room. The hotel is not really cool - Alex would say: "It is not my best friend". Cleanliness is not a big deal here. But well, that's how it is.

Alex has certainly already described the incident exactly 200m before the hotel, because she has mentioned several times that she wants to write it down. But no one had written anything during our lunch break at exactly 12:00. We sat on benches in the shade by the river and ate the remaining food in the wildest combinations. After that, the way was not so great anymore, we got lost several times and now we are driving on real busy roads. Nico navigated again with his mobile phone. We mostly drove within settlements. You couldn't really tell where a place began or ended. And finally, we were - without a town sign - in Mestre, where we drove through endless roundabouts in residential areas.

In the morning, the route was much nicer: after we left Treviso (a really big, old city with a lot of life and shops), we drove on small fields paths through avenues, villages, past rivers and even on a longer bridge over a lake. That was very nice. The wind while riding was pleasant because otherwise it was quite hot. And now the room below comes up and we discuss the next steps.

(Anna)

We are currently eating pizza in Venice. Earlier, we were in a nice park without tourists and drank beer. I really like the city. Let's see what we're going to do today. The last train leaves at 12 to go back. Tomorrow we will go to the beach! And we'll sleep in.

Krissi can finally relax and not smell anymore because the smoker behind her is gone. Julle found the coolest toilet sign in the world. I think I should take a look at it now.
