Thursday to Saturday, I painted at Hope Village every day. It is a children's home consisting of several houses. Actually, we only had to paint the baby house and the toddler house, but the mixing of the paint took hours and we had to paint one house twice because it had streaks, so everything took longer than expected. To our delight, the second house is also made of bricks, so we were able to paint each joint individually with a brush. Friday evening, we went to a food market with live music. There are many delicacies from different countries to eat there.
On Saturday morning, I went to the gym, then went shopping briefly, and in the evening, after painting for another 4 hours, we had a nice barbecue with friends. On Sunday morning, I went to the gym again with Max and Jeannie. Afterwards, we actually wanted to finish the painting, but we had forgotten the paint bucket in the car the day before, and unfortunately, the car was gone. So the painting action didn't happen. Instead, I baked a birthday cake for Max with the other girls. In the evening, we had a little celebration. Yesterday morning, I went jogging here for the first time. Actually, it's dangerous, but since Max goes too, I can join him. After that, I went to work. This week, I am representing the twins in their preschool class, which has been going quite well so far. At lunchtime, a few locals cooked traditionally for us. We had pap (a firm porridge made from maize meal and water) with a kind of goulash. In the evening, Max actually wanted to go to a lodge outside the city to have a sundowner. But we somehow didn't manage to do that on time, so we drove to Heinitzburg instead, where you can also overlook the city and enjoy the sunset. We had a very cozy evening.
Next Saturday, we are finally going on another trip. This time, we're going to Sossusvlei in the Namibian desert. I'm really looking forward to it and will of course tell you all about it afterwards 😊☀️
I'm off to the gym and salsa now, see you later!💛
