We start our first day in Brisbane with a walk along George Street. We pass by Queen Elizabeth Courts of Law and end up at Albert Street Uniting Church. A church in the midst of skyscrapers.
We stop in front of Town Hall and continue walking to have breakfast at Queen Street Mall. Then we stroll through the City Botanic Gardens and find out that there is a market set up there today. We pass by Old Government House and head towards the Goodwill Bridge. As it is now 37 degrees Celsius, we decide to rent an E-Scooter.
We scooter across the bridge and along the Glem Jones Promenade. We pass by the South Bank Pool, an artificial beach with a pool in the middle of Brisbane's city center. We drive past the Nepalese Pagoda and stop at the Wheel of Brisbane and the Brisbane Sign. Then we visit the Gallery of Modern Art. Dennis is not quite impressed with the art, as some paintings are very simple. After that, we visit the Queensland Museum with an exhibition about the Coral Sea. It shows how coral was formed and is currently being damaged. We take a little break in a food court at Queen Street Mall. Then we continue walking to Customs House and pass by Anzac Square. In the evening, we go back to our hostel and end the evening with a cider on the rooftop terrace with other travelers.
