About construction sites, food and more :)

Published: 16.08.2019

As befits a big city, there is construction and renovation going on almost everywhere. With temperatures of around 33 degrees today, I feel a bit sorry for the construction workers. However, there are also differences between construction sites in Germany and Hong Kong. The people who are out in the sun almost all day wear long clothes to protect themselves.

When a construction site is set up, the cones are carefully placed. During my lunch break, the cones at one construction site were rearranged at least 10 times in an hour. Depending on where there might be a danger, the cones are placed and rearranged. It is especially important to attach a sign saying 'Work in Progress' to the construction site.

There are probably nowhere near as many 'air conditioners' on the walls of buildings as there are in Hong Kong. Since water drips from the devices on the outer wall due to ventilation, you have to be careful when walking on the street. At first, I thought it was rain puddles, but when it was wet in some places even though it hadn't rained, I knew where it came from. So if you're not careful, you might get a wet head.

In this picture you can see the air conditioner puddles on the ground. It is also evident that every construction site is built with bamboo sticks. In Germany, this would be unthinkable. I am also not sure if it's always that stable. Let's hope so.

Recently, I ate at Pepper Lunch in a food court. There is an iron plate on which the food is served. It is very hot and the meat is cooked on it at the table. Rice is served with it.

From my hotel, I have a direct view of the pool of an apartment building across the street. In the middle of the city, among the high-rise buildings, people swim in the pool on the roof. From my hotel window, I can't see the top floor of the building... and I'm already on the 11th floor.
