A visit to the living green elephant sanctuary.
About 1.5 hours away from Chiang Mai lies one of many elephant rescue stations in northern Thailand.
Here, one should do proper research and choose an ethical camp. Even today, there are still many camps where one can ride the elephants.
Upon arriving at the living green elephant sanctuary, we first got to make "medicine" for the elephants. These small balls were made from several ingredients such as salt, sugar, rice, and of course, some bananas.
Afterward, we planted sugar beets in the field. It was very strenuous work under what felt like 36 degrees in the sun.
After the work, the reward: delicious Pad Thai from the locals.
