Departure to Istanbul, flight time 3 hours, 3 hours layover at the airport in a business lounge, which is about the size of Berlin Tegel Airport, and then an 8-hour flight to Hanoi.
At the airport, which is not particularly crowded, we will be picked up and taken to the hotel. The drive in the wet gray weather shows a not very attractive city, but the Sofitel Hotel, a very beautiful facility built by the French, is located right in the old town by the lake, and a short walk convinces us that at least the old town of Hanoi is worth a visit.
Today, the sightseeing starts right away in the morning.
After the walk, we entered one of the hotel restaurants, but the ordered food took a long time to arrive, and when Sabina became impatient, the manager explained that a kitchen fire had occurred during the preparation of her hamburger, but it had been extinguished with a fire extinguisher, although the kitchen was temporarily out of service. A replacement meal had to be brought in from the other restaurant, and we could eat a bit delayed and then fall into bed completely exhausted.
