Finally beach vacation!

We have arrived in Ko Samui and are enjoying our relaxing break at the beach.

As announced, we have temporarily turned our backs on the urban jungle of Bangkok and have traveled onward by bus and ferry – our destination: Ko Samui. Sun, fine sandy beaches, and a turquoise, crystal-clear sea.

By now, we have been here for four days, fully immersing ourselves in the laid-back beach life. We splash around with our little one in the pool and otherwise just let our souls relax. I have completely lost track of time – only the sun gives a faint hint of what time of day it is and when the afternoon slowly begins. 🌅

In fact, I even had to check what day of the week it currently is – and when Easter is taking place. 🐣🐰 Especially with the time difference: When should I actually start wishing happy holidays? 😂

So, it really is wonderful to live here. ☀️

As promised, I will tell you more about our journey – especially about the flight to Thailand with our daughter: how to make it as stress-free as possible and how it went for us.

I will start with the recent past: our overnight bus ride followed by the ferry to Ko Samui.

The overnight ride went surprisingly well. The bus was full but pleasantly air-conditioned. We were the only family with a child – the rest consisted mainly of backpackers. Most of them had a different destination at the pier: the neighboring island of Koh Phangan, where the world-famous Full Moon Party was taking place.

Through our many travels, I am now well prepared and pack everything necessary into our backpack that we may need in the bus with a small child: diapers, plenty of wet wipes, change of clothes (also something warmer due to the air conditioning), a blanket, snacks, and drinks, as well as some toys. The key is to avoid boredom – and if a little sleep happens, that’s even better. This way, even a longer ride becomes much more relaxing.

And that’s how the ride went for our little one: First, she calmly explored everything from our seats in the bus, then ate a bit – and finally, she fell asleep.

Around half past midnight, we took a short break and could stretch our legs once again. During this time, our daughter woke up but only curiously and still very sleepily looked around.

When we got back on the bus, we first had to find a comfortable sleeping position again. But soon, we both fell asleep again – she comfortably in my arm, and I... well, I was just dealing with having my legs fall asleep. 😂

In the morning around 8:30 AM, we finally got off, and it went straight on with the ferry. After about an hour and a half, we finally reached Ko Samui. 🤗
