Cape Town

On Sunday, we attended a church service at a Gospel Church. Before entering, we asked if it was okay for us to participate. The people there were extremely happy about our visit and greeted us warmly.

The service started at 10:00 and ended at 12:18! My first thought was, help, a two-hour service :-(! But it was really amazing and incredible how this service went. The first thirty minutes were spent singing and praying. When I say singing, I mean everyone in this service sang loudly. It was unbelievable. Daniela and I looked at each other in amazement. We were totally excited.

After that, the pastor preached. The sermon was AMAZING. For an hour, he interpreted the Bible, made references to today's life, and adorned it all with anecdotes, causing the congregation to sometimes shout AMEN-AMEN or burst out laughing. It was incredible. And everything, of course, digitally prepared and displayed on large projector screens for everyone to see. The entire service was live-streamed with various camera angles - with the option to donate via QR code or app ;-)

At the end, there was more singing and people were literally bursting with joy.

After the service, all the people who were visiting the church for the first time were invited to a separate room. There, they received an information folder about the congregation and a bottle of water. At first, we thought, oh, oh, now it's time to give our bank details... but no! We could write down prayer requests for the pastor and were then kindly bid farewell. And we were definitely invited to come back next Sunday!

Afterwards, we drove to Kirstenbosch Botanical Garden. It is said to be the most beautiful garden in the world. Since we haven't seen all the gardens in the world, we can't judge that. But what we can say is that it is the most beautiful botanical garden we have seen so far. We had a picnic bag prepared at a restaurant and enjoyed it in a beautiful spot in the park. The view of the mountains was breathtaking.

After the picnic, we strolled through the park and visited some attractions. In the park, you should watch out for snakes and follow certain rules of behavior when encountering one. So don't scream or wave your hands. Daniela said, 'oh Anke, they are describing your behavior perfectly when you see a snake!' Well, I have actually become calmer. So I didn't scream when I saw a snake on the path :-).

Monday:

On Monday morning, we actually had to go and get another suitcase or bag. We bought so much, oh... oh. But we quickly took care of that and also got the last souvenirs.

After that, we had the choice to go up the mountain or have some relaxation at the beach. WE decided to go to the beach. Both of us enjoyed the day at the beach filled with breathtaking viewpoints, stunning landscapes, and great experiences until the sunset over the sea.

An incredible journey of 4,834 km by car (and at least as many km on foot ;-) is coming to an end for us. What we have seen and experienced here is simply beautiful. The people we met in South Africa were ALL very friendly and helpful.

We say THANK YOU SOUTH AFRICA for an unforgettable vacation!!!

Anke & Daniela
