Hello everyone, we spent the last 10 days in the Rocky Mountains, mostly without phone signal and internet connection. Just nature.
On the way to the Rocky Mountains, you first cross the Coast Mountains and then reach the city of Kamloops, which belongs to the Okanagan Valley, the warmest and driest region in Canada. Here is also the Juniper Provincial Park.
The Rocky Mountains between the towns of Banff and Jasper are very touristy, we had to reserve campsites in advance. It gets really crowded in July and August when Canadians, Americans, and European tourists vacation here. That's why we are leaving this beautiful area at the end of June.
Despite all the tourism, the Canadian Rocky Mountains are simply beautiful. Sometimes you feel like you are part of a landscape painting. We stayed the longest in the Jasper area where you can take very nice hikes. We were also rewarded with the most animal encounters there.
We (finally) saw a black bear up close, an elk, numerous elk, many bighorn sheep, and some mountain goats.
