This is really crazy. I actually did it. I took 6 months of unpaid leave to do what I've always wanted to do and what I wouldn't have time for otherwise. Traveling, for example☺️
I have to admit, maybe I wouldn't have done it if my friend Silke hadn't taken the initiative and also took 6 months off. So it was easy to say: yes, of course, I'll join! Thanks for that, Silke, I hug you😚😚! Greetings to Siberia!
The first part of the 6 months off takes me to a country that I only know from TV, travel guides and travel reports. In particular, the westernmost major city in Canada, Vancouver, really caught my attention - in theory: by the sea, a big city with lots of culture, surrounded by nature with the Rockies for cycling, hiking, canoeing and who knows what else!
So it was clear that Vancouver would be the first stop. At the same time, I wanted to do something different as a change from my stressful job. So the idea came up to do some WWOOFing, i.e. working on a farm for 3 weeks in exchange for food and accommodation, but more on that later. After that, I wanted to add 2 weeks of travelling. So a total of 5 weeks.
A bit of preparation was needed for this trip. Booking a flight and the first accommodation, finding a farm, taking out international health insurance, etc. And packing! The photo shows everything I eventually took with me. Packing itself was easier than expected. I took a pretty stripped-down luggage, so clothes for 7 days, because you can also do laundry👍
The picture with my friends was taken last night at the Maifeld Derby in Mannheim. Among other things, I scheduled my trip 2 weeks later because of this great festival. It was an awesome evening, I saw The Streets (photo) and was able to celebrate with my friends one last time! Greetings to the boys, it was great, right?💥Silly, too bad you weren't there!
And this morning it finally started. Only slept for 5 hours, but no matter, adrenaline and coffee make up for it! Arriving at Frankfurt Airport, I first stood in a mega queue to check in my luggage, see photo. But luckily it wasn't that bad, only the last minute gate change was exciting☺️
And the guy who obviously forgot his pants at home (see photo) made up for it all😂
All in all, now I'm sitting in the plane and let's see what happens. It's a nice feeling!☺️
