Egypt is a destination that quickly brings out the explorer in all of us. The vast grandeur and beauty of this ancient land is evident in the lofty heights of Mt. Sinai, the silent depths of the Red Sea, the ancient tombs of Luxor and the open expanses of the Siwa Oasis. However, there are a few things a traveller must keep in mind to be able to enjoy the full Egyptian experience:
· First of all you should prepare yourself for a culture shock! Many seasoned travellers are amazed when they first visit Egypt, and find that it is unlike any other country that they have previously visited.
· If you are travelling alone, or in a couple, and wish to organize everything yourself you should let your hotel know about your plans. If you should get lost, the hotel will be able to act upon your behalf.
· Keep in mind that Egypt is a Muslim country, so you must respect their faith. Many things you take as the norm such as kissing your partner in public or wearing revealing clothing are frowned upon here.
· You mustn’t drink the tap water. It is okay to wash, shower and clean your teeth with it, but it is not advised to drink it.
· Get to know the other guests in your hotel, many of them will give you advice about what and what not to do. They might also be able to tell you where the best restaurants and sights are.
Lastly and most importantly you should not forget to enjoy the beauty of Egypt!
