Day 32: We prepared for the challenge at Colombino’s this morning. Do you remember? Everyone wanted to create a menu of the day. Down to the last bite. We were the first guests and had already taken our seats and the landlord came to take our order. “Twice menu of the day,” I said with a victorious smile. And then the innkeeper said with a succinct shrug of the shoulders: “Sorry, you’re early.” We were too early! I sprinted to the door where the menu was described on a piece of paper and sure enough: A partir de las 13:30 horas, it was written there in black and white. It was now just after 11:30 a.m. We felt cheated of our triumph...
Waiting for an hour was too long for us. Also because the alternative wasn't so bad: tapes. We ordered three different ones of these Spanish specialties, and one tasted better than the other. A beer and then a cortado – I've had to deal with blows that were more painful.
We finally set off towards Orihuela. There were two reasons for this: It was too cold for me here. The beautiful landscape with all its charms simply couldn't make up for that. I had to go more towards the sea again. Orihuela was a suggestion from Icke. She googled the city on the internet and found it beautiful. Well, Orihuela is a beautiful city with many impressive churches and parks, but Icke had never paid much attention to that - until now, at least. I googled it myself and lo and behold: One of the largest markets in the area is taking place in Orihuela on Friday. “I know what you find so interesting about this city,” I said. Icke just smiled. That was answer enough for me.
Since there are no official parking spaces in this city and a round of cleaning would do us and our laundry a lot of good, we moved to a parking space in the surrounding area that has a shower and a washing machine. Los Yagues Motorhome Park has five spacious parking spaces, and we got the fifth and last one, but the only one with a little bit of shade. We'll need it tomorrow when the sky is clear and it's 22 degrees.
