UBC - Campus

An absolute must for our family. We visit the campus of the University of British Columbia. It is its own neighborhood with a bus station, stadiums, swimming pool, museums, and many, many buildings. You really need a map to navigate around. Hats off to those who work, study, and shine here.

We visit the UBC Farm. Yes, they have their own farm where they strive to preserve biodiversity of fruits and vegetables in the most organic way possible. They study how to reduce the number of fruit flies in blueberries. They have chickens and a garden for children to learn where plants come from and how they grow.

Of course, we also visit the Wooden Tall Building Brock Commons. We smile at the children and swiftly enter the building with our guide. You can only see the structure in the common area on the upper floor. Otherwise, everything is well disguised, but impressive. Especially when Felix asks, "Mom, why is there only one made of wood?"

We also find the Flying Stairs made of wood in the Earth Science Building and visit the Beaty Biodiversity Museum with detailed descriptions of many species of animals and plants.
