It got cold in Montréal and the wind was icy. Fortunately, after a few days, we also got some snow. So on 11/11, we not only celebrated the 3rd birthday but also got snow. The streets and sidewalks were white and the playgrounds had a thick layer of snow. It took several days for the side streets to be cleared in addition to the main streets. But then you also come with up to three snowplows at the same time and clear the streets, and the snow is plowed and transported away from the main streets. Parking lots get huge snowbergs, but eventually, everything is cleared.
It felt like our childhood, crossing the street bravely jumping over the high snowdrifts, pulling a sled on the sidewalk. Finally, we found the sled in the fifth store, and the children's eyes and laughter on the way home were priceless.
On the weekend, we went sledding on Mont Royal, took a long walk, and tried out the straw-padded toboggan run. They are amazed by the early snowfall here, but they just smile at the cold with -10 degrees. Despite the sun, it was sometimes icy. We look at the beautiful long cross-country ski trails with a bit of nostalgia, but we will be back in winter and then we'll be back on the trails.
