A presumably very good golfer once said that golf is the greatest fun you can have with your pants on. Well, as I said – it must have been a truly great golfer. In my golf world, this sport is often also the most frustrating experience one can have. Until that one moment when you hit the ball and the club goes through it like a hot knife through butter, the moment when the golf god pulls back the heavens and lets the sun shine on you... whoever has experienced that will never let go of the sport. I may be exaggerating a little here, but that's about how it is. ;-)
I try to play at least one round of golf on every trip. Here in Vietnam, I chose the Hoiana Shores Golf Club in Da Nang, one of the 100 most beautiful places in the world. A challenging links course located right on the coast of the South China Sea, particularly notable for its fantastic condition and fast greens.
8 AM tee time at hole one – I was joined by a Korean and a Swiss player. We were accompanied by our caddies, who are provided as standard with the green fee here. This is really helpful, especially when it comes to finding the balls – after all, everything costs money.
Long story short... it was a very nice morning during which the golf god did what he always does: briefly show that he actually likes you, only to then hit you again right away.
Here's the shortest golfer joke to conclude...
In this spirit: I can do it!
