Today there was a delicious breakfast buffet. As is usual in Holland, the hotel has narrow staircases and lots of steps and is lovingly decorated. In my room on the second floor I think to myself, you can't forget anything, otherwise it will be exhausting. When I get my bike out of the car outside, I put my hand to my forehead because I've forgotten something, the bike battery. Stay positive, climbing the stairs is my warm-up routine 🤸 At 10 a.m. I start pedaling 🚴 first along the coastal cycle path through the dunes towards Katwijk . Like the last few days, I'm warmed up. I brought my rain jacket with me as a precaution (but I didn't need it 💪 tschacka). In Leiden I visit the Corpus Museum (journey through the human body). Hefty entrance fee €24.90, but it was interesting. You are given headphones and guided through the different parts of the body in small groups 😀 Then I cycle on to Leiden. OK, it's Saturday and the market 🤔 so it's incredibly busy. I go to the individual market stalls, eat some more kibbeling and poffertjes; the stall has a few tables and chairs by the water, away from the hustle and bustle, from there I can comfortably watch the hustle and bustle in the sun at 22 degrees 😎 Then it's time to head back. I stop at the beach in Katwijk aan Zee . It's 4 p.m. Time for a glass of red wine 🍷 😋
What I didn't expect at all was that I would be able to ride here without a jacket! 😅 The Dutch were already riding their bikes in T-shirts in the morning, but that was still too risky for me in the morning.
Then it's time for the final sprint. It's not far back through the dunes to Noordwijk . Because the weather is still good, I watch the kite surfers for ages and can't tear myself away from the sea and the setting sun 🫶
