Tag 73 - Visit to Manuel

A kind person I personally know arranged a generous donation for Manuel (the sponsored child) and his family before Christmas. With this money, the family was able to enlarge their hut to 10 x 10 meters. And, what is even more crucial, they were able to place it on a 1-meter-high concrete foundation. This protects the interior from rain and mud. It can now almost be called a house.

Today, I was invited to visit the place. It's only a few minutes' walk from the project. Almost the entire 9-member family was present: Manuel, his parents, his siblings, uncle, aunt, and nephew. Inside the house, rooms were partitioned with plastic sheets and cloths. I don't think it has any windows. The floor is compacted earth. Behind the house is the (quite chaotic) workshop of the father, where he makes chairs and beds. He calls himself a carpenter. Manuel's family is very religious and trusts that God will take care of everything. I find it admirable how content they are. And very, very grateful for the improvement of their house.
