Tag 24 - Escape from León

Published: 27.11.2017

In León, it is so humid that Silvana and I have already agreed to take a walk through the city this morning at 6:00 am. If the temperatures are still bearable. If the deafening music isn't coming from every other store. Or if the merchandise is not being advertised in endless loops. If the narrow streets and narrow sidewalks are not yet overcrowded. If the little drummers and dancing dervishes are sitting down for breakfast and hopefully going to school afterwards. Then, yes, then León is bearable. At least for me. I'm glad that Silvana doesn't want to stay any longer either. And so we check out at 10 am.

Hardly out of the taxi, we can already take a seat in one of the buses to Managua. It's more like a minibus with about 12 seats. We sit in the front next to the driver. He has a nervous tic: he puts his right hand on the steering wheel and makes a movement with it every 3-5 seconds (I counted). As if someone were giving him a small electric impulse. Unless he's talking on his cell phone, which he holds in his left hand throughout the entire trip, then he needs his right hand to steer. Actually, he has two tics, both of which make me nervous.

Temperature still high, occasionally cloudy, no wind. And still no news from Gurb.
