First day

The first day after the exhausting flight, which arrived shortly before midnight with a 6-hour delay, was supposed to be for acclimatization. We planned our tours using the standard guidebook for Madeira - the Rother hiking guide - and wanted to know if the time indications and difficulty levels mentioned would match our experiences.

But first, we explored the local business world to supply our vacation home in Calheta with the essentials. This came in handy thanks to our planning, which informed us that there was a Pingo Doce below our vacation home.

For the first day, we chose a 'red' tour to Lagoa do Vento in the Rabaçal region with an estimated duration of 3 hours. Meanwhile, we left our children in our vacation accommodation by the pool and with WiFi - so they were perfectly taken care of :-)

The tour started with a scenic drive along steep roads to the starting point of the tour at Miradouro do Rabaçal.
