'Shooting stars in the sky but I don't wish for anything - I am happy'
After being to so many places and only staying briefly, it was time for me to rest and stay in one place. I chose Wales. From the Scottish Highlands, I took the train back down to Edinburgh (where I had another really cool few days) and then took the bus and train to Wales. Getting to northern Wales was not easy without a car, but it is doable! Near the small village of Ffynnongroew, I booked a sweet cottage right by the sea and enjoyed the peace and quiet.
I fulfilled another dream - living right by the sea. Although it was only for a short time, I was just as enchanted by it as I had imagined and definitely want to do it again! It's great to be so close to the sea and I felt an immediate sense of calm and serenity. By the sea, I feel like I can take time for myself and my thoughts.
That was also the theme of my week. I rested in the cottage, walked through streets and forests to the beach, talked to friends on the phone, finally cooked properly again, took pictures to my heart's content, and only ventured further away for adventurous food searches. Having the cottage to myself was amazing after sharing rooms with others for so long (having your own bathroom is something wonderful) and I loved being able to cook in peace again. The weather was wonderfully sunny and warm, perfect weather to lie on the beach and read or do photo shoots.
One evening, the night was full of shooting stars. I found out about it through the news and armed with a blanket, snacks, and a good friend on the phone, I made my way to the beach. Fortunately, it was not too cold even after midnight. I lay down on the pier, looked up, and together with my friend (who did the same thing in Germany) we went hunting for stars. And we found some! We saw several shooting stars that evening glide across the sky - quick and just as bright. It was really beautiful (despite a little vampire attack) and one of those magical evenings/nights where you feel so alive. I felt alive as I lay outside in the middle of the night, watching the stars and feeling connected. How many people were looking up at that moment, entrusting their thoughts and wishes to the shooting stars?
I can recommend cottage life to anyone who wants to find peace and quiet! Just keep in mind - the further you are, the more difficult it is to shop! Without a car, it's a real adventure to get food and other things (especially if the buses are just as 'punctual' as they are in Germany) so it's better to plan this point a bit too much rather than too little!
