The main reason we traveled to England was for Luke's cousin's wedding, which took place the day after we arrived. Despite being five of us accommodated in Luke's grandmother's small house, getting ready for the wedding in the morning went surprisingly well. We were able to leave on time for the church, which was a good half an hour drive away in Hatfield near Doncaster. After the church, we continued to the wedding reception at a nearby restaurant/hotel. There, we had to endure speech after speech until finally, there was something to eat. In the evening, there was music for dancing. Unfortunately, it is customary to pay for your own drinks at English weddings. Not very good for the wallet ;) At midnight, a taxi picked us up and took us to Luke's uncle and aunt's house in Doncaster. We stayed there together with his father and his girlfriend, while the aunt and uncle stayed at the hotel where the celebration took place. But that was too expensive for us.
It was somehow strange to attend a wedding where you hardly know anyone. At least, that's how it was for me. There are some photos from the wedding above.
The next day consisted of more family visits because it is customary to visit the wedding couple and have something to eat with them on the day after the wedding. In the evening, we drove back to Sheffield with Luke's grandma. Fortunately, there were no more family celebrations afterwards because the day after that, we continued to the coast to Scaborough.
