On 17.02.2019 we set off for Brisbane, often called 'Brissie', 'Bris Vegas' or 'Brisneyworld'. Only 2 million people live here and you can really feel it. Compared to Sydney, for example, the city is much less crowded and less hectic.
We booked a free city tour with 'Brisbane Greeters' for the next day. Our city guide was a super nice older lady who tailored the route completely to us.
Only 4 people took part, so she asked each of us what they would like to see or what we hoped to get out of the city tour. She also had connections everywhere. During the tour, she arranged for us to taste ice cream for free and she got the key from a security guard to take us to the 32nd floor of an office building. There we had a fantastic view of the city.
Tina really gave her all and didn't even accept a small tip from us at the end. She does these tours voluntarily and doesn't get paid for them.
We were out for four hours and afterwards we really felt like we had seen everything important. We especially liked the free beach IN THE CITY CENTER. After the tour, we stayed here for a while.
We really liked Brisbane a lot. But like every big city, everything is unfortunately quite expensive. We hope to come back here someday.
