After I went from Rishikesh to Delhi, struggling, uh, being delayed for 36 hours in Delhi, I took a night train to Varanasi. In the Sleeper Class, the second lowest class, and not knowing if I would have a place to sleep alone, my stomach decided for the first time not to cope with the food during the planned 12-hour journey, which then turned into 15 hours, and I spent a large part of the time in the train toilet.
Arriving feeling half dead, I took a rickshaw to the hostel, where I could recover in peace. With Loperamide, I felt healed after two hours, or at least I could drink again and didn't have to run to the toilet anymore...
The next day, I visited the Ghats, the most sacred Hindu city on the Ganges. Here, people bathe in the absolutely polluted water, while 500 meters away, corpses are burned or simply thrown into the river.
Then I went to a juice bar called "Blue Lassi", where I ordered a Lassi. A Lassi is an Indian drink/snack made with yogurt and various fruits, which can be consumed as a drink or eaten with a spoon. I mean, what did I have to lose... my stomach was already ruined xD So I ordered and enjoyed a Banana-Coconut Lassi.
More or less strengthened, I then went to the train station to reserve a train ticket to Agra. There, I met an Argentine who had the same destination the next day, and we decided to sit in the same compartment and take a trip to a Buddhist temple. In the evening, back in the city, we watched the evening Aarti at the Ganges. To be honest, I liked the ceremony in Haridwar, where I took a day trip from Rishikesh, better.
The next day, I visited the Ghats again and in the afternoon, my night train to Agra departed.
I finished writing the article and then realized, ah fuck, I didn't take any pictures with my phone :/
