Day 7 - Chiang Mai Temples and more

Published: 08.02.2024

Chiang Mai is impressive… we went to the fresh market on foot in the morning. Fish, meat, fruit and vegetables etc. By 10 a.m. the rush of Thais was already over and we were a little late, so many pots and displays were already empty. Afterwards we strolled through the old town. There are more than 200! Marvel at the temple. Everyone has their own flair. We skipped Wat Chedi Luang because there were so many people there. In the afternoon we booked a private driver, Mr. Chanon, for 1000 baht (27 euros). He drove us to Wat Doi Suthep, a very important temple at the top of a mountain. 12 km of serpentines and a beautiful view included. We hiked part of the way back. There we discovered an old temple in the middle of the jungle. That was amazing. In the evening we went to China Town. In addition to chicken, Frank's Green Curry also had something dark, liver? No chicken blood… made like egg custard. Actually quite tasty… spicy is redefined here. Basically everything is super spicy 🥵 🌶️ We have to go to bed early, tomorrow we're going to Chiang Rai, right on the border with Myanmar 🇲🇲 and Laos 🇱🇦
