Riding in Pukehina

Hello dear ones,

I know I told you that the next post would be about Auckland, but unfortunately not all the photos have been uploaded yet, so that one will come later.

Instead, I can tell you about my wonderful day in Pukehina, where I went riding with Max and Immogen. It was an absolute dream, and it was even better than the Icelandic riding in Christchurch.

We met in the morning and then rode with our guide to the beach. After a little warm-up, we galloped along the beach. An incredible feeling of freedom! I enjoyed it immensely and I must say that I still master the basics of riding. So well that I stayed in the saddle when my horse shied away from a big wave and started bucking.

We chatted nicely the whole time and had fun, cracking a few bad jokes. Before heading back, we galloped in the other direction and then returned across the private pastures.

After riding, we went to lunch and relaxed on the beach in Tauranga, where we also met up with a colleague. It was an all-around great day full of fun and a brief reminder of how brutal the sun can be, as I got a nice sunburn on my shoulders and part of my back from just 15 minutes without sunscreen (from the car to lunch).

On my second day off, I went to the market with Yvonne (my landlord) and company, and we got some delicious treats for the afternoon to host a classic coffee and cake event.
