The night in my warm sleeping bag was great. I slept almost through and didn't freeze at all. Despite that, I was awake quite early and after a quick breakfast (rolls, hard-boiled eggs, cheese and tomatoes) I was back in the saddle at 8:15 a.m. The morning sun didn't completely dry the dewy tent, but since I have a special waterproof bag for the tent, at least the wet tent doesn't get anything else wet.
The first stop today was the Weltenburg Monastery. There is no real cycle path from here to Kehlheim (except along the road where all the tour buses drive). So I booked the first ferry at 10:40 a.m. and still had time for a white sausage breakfast. The ferry takes about 40 minutes. The ferry saved me about 10 km. When I arrived in Kehlheim, I went straight on to Regensburg and then to my destination in Straubing. Here I found a nice campsite at the local canoe club.
