11-10-2015 Gibb River Road, El Questro

Published: 04.05.2019

Woke up this morning at 4:30 am, completely sweaty... The night was a nightmare. By far, this was the hottest night here... It felt as if the air was still :-/.

Well, anyway, we wanted to wake up early today because we had a 7 km long hiking trail ahead of us, through forests, rocks and water. Got freshened up in the beautiful little bathroom, but within 10 minutes we were already sweaty again. Let's go to El Questro Gorge! =) On the way to the gorge, our car had to drive through a river bed, but that was not a problem! The hiking trail was incredibly exciting and really not easy to tackle. Maybe you can see it better in the pictures than we can explain. We were glad that there was almost only shade during the hike. This day was unbelievable, the trail looked like a rainforest and the swimming stops in the gorge were unforgettable, with the waterfall above us and the crystal clear water we swam in. Tonight we all agreed, that was the most beautiful thing we have seen so far!!

But tonight we did not want to spend another night here at the campsite, instead we wanted to drive to the next rest area and tomorrow we want to hike through another gorge. It's kind of interesting, you google and gather information about what to see here in the north or northwest, and we have never read or heard anything about El Questro Gorge. After the last gorge that we want to do tomorrow (Emma Gorge), we will continue to Kununurra and shortly after this place we will cross the border to the north. Here the time difference to Germany will also change.
