The day today was marked by two events. Ukulele for Stephan and Super Bowl. That's why we headed out after breakfast to walk to one of the most famous ukulele stores in Hawaii, "Kamahameha Ukulele". It was a beautiful walk along Waikiki Beach in the best weather. When we arrived at the store, I was completely overwhelmed by the many different ukuleles hanging on the walls. After all, I had never held one before and had no idea how to tune or play it. So I confidently took one off the display, asked for the price, and quickly hung it back up unplayed after the answer was $2,700 plus tax. Although it was supposed to be my birthday gift, I didn't want to be so audacious ☺️. After trying out a few (after ten minutes I could already play a few songs), I came across a beautiful ukulele made of Hawaiian koa wood with little mother-of-pearl turtles on the fretboard, which I instantly fell in love with. However, it was also quite expensive, but since I not only have a wonderful but also a very generous wife, and the salesperson even gave us a small discount, a great hard case, and a tuner, the instrument is now here in the hotel room and I happily play one song after another with it 😀.
After this exciting purchase, we headed back and could already hear the cheers of Chiefs or 49ers fans from all the sports bars. The Super Bowl was everywhere. So we went to one of the bars where there were still seats available, ordered two large beers 🍻, and some Buffalo wings, and experienced the victory of the Kansas City Chiefs with all the other guests.
After a little evening shopping tour, we ended the day relatively early in a cool steakhouse. Tomorrow we have to get up early because at 8 a.m. we will pick up the mopeds and ride around the island ☺️.
