Monday, 26.09.:
Today I had to do some university work before going to the Fiji Islands.
While studying, I packed my suitcase and then went to sleep.
Tuesday, 27.09.:
The alarm clock rang at 5:30 am.
I had to leave with the tram at 6:40 am. At first, I was on the wrong tram, I realized when I didn't see Caro sitting in the tram. So I quickly got out and ran to the other tram :D
Arrived at the airport and went through all the controls, we departed for Fiji at 9:30 am!!!
Arrived in Nadi and the booked pick-up service wasn't there. The lovely Fijian ladies kindly contacted the hostel. After 2 hours, we were then picked up. Then we went on the roads with the pick-up service. First impression: Oh my god, where have we landed?! No proper roads, houses partially collapsed, and the weather was gloomy, so I had to unpack my rain poncho (which I luckily got from Tami and Lexe as a goodbye gift)!
Arrived at the hostel, we booked the Bula Combo Pass, with which we could hop around the islands for 5 days or 4 nights as we wanted, and meals and accommodation were included.
After the organizational matters were somewhat sorted out, we walked around outside a bit before going to sleep.
Wednesday, 28.09.:
The worse the impression was on the main island, the more admirable the islands were!!
Our first stop was at 13:00 on top of Nacula Island at the Safe Landing Resort - my favorite of the trip. The people were incredibly friendly and it was simply like a dream - blue water, a peaceful atmosphere, and meeting many nice new people from various countries.
After lunch, I went snorkeling at the Blue Lagoon.
At first, I hesitated and screamed whenever a fish touched me, but after a while, we became good friends and I was very impressed by the world of fish! :-)
After dinner, we sat together and played a quiz.
Breakfast at 7:30 am.
Afterwards, we went on the cave trip. It was a cave with water inside, and in the cave, there was another cave that you had to dive through for 2-3 meters to get into it. (Unfortunately, I don't have any pictures yet - hope they will come soon)
It was also beautiful here and it was a great experience.
We arrived back on the island just in time for lunch, and the next island was already waiting for us.
We were then taken by boat to our "beautiful" ferry and then stranded on Naviti Island at the White Sandy Resort.
This island was very nice for relaxing, unfortunately, there were very few activities, so we did some university work and had a little photoshoot during sunset.
After dinner with dessert, there was a bonfire on the beach. A local played the guitar and sang.
When we arrived in the dormitory with 6 other people, we discovered a big fat spider. *eww*. And who had the luck to get rid of it? ME., because the others were even more afraid of it than I was - which I couldn't believe because I'm already pretty scared... eeeeeeek.... so I tried to catch the spider, but unfortunately, the result was that I cut off two of its legs and then couldn't find the spider anywhere..
After everyone had calmed down after a while, we went to sleep with an uneasy feeling :-D
Friday, 30.09.:
Everyone survived the night successfully, so we went to breakfast at 8:00 am
Since there was still nothing to do, we worked on my photo book for Fiji and learned a bit more.
We left for Matacawalevu Island at 11:45 am and arrived at the Long Beach Resort at 12:30 pm - my favorite in terms of location - like in a movie!
After lunch, we were taken to our 10-bed room and then we enjoyed some sunbathing until the coconut demonstration took place.
After the demonstration, I went snorkeling at the nearby beach until it was time for dinner. After dinner, we played cards together and then there was another bonfire on the beach, this time a German girl unpacked her ukulele and played for us. :-)
Saturday, 01.10.:
Today, getting up early was on the agenda, because we watched the sunrise at 5:45 am. But then we went back to sleep, because breakfast was at 8:00 am.
Since this was the most beautiful place, we did a photoshoot after breakfast.
After we were done, we went on the Gold Island Hike, where it was said that you didn't need closed shoes, but in the end, I ruined my shoes because I slipped. *Oops*
After the hike, the "stay-at-homes" were already crafting. Here you could make rings and bracelets from a coconut.
We had to say goodbye to this island today and so we continued to Wayalailai Island to the Wayalailai Ecohaven Resort at 1:00 pm.
Also a very beautiful island and we hadn't had such a blue sky all week.
We stayed in a 24-bed dormitory here.
While we played cards with new people, we enjoyed a Fiji beer and learned the Bula dance. Unfortunately, I didn't have my phone ready to record it..
After the Bula dance, we continued with the limbo dance, where I was the last girl to pass through at the lowest level. *yeah* :-D
2 guys continued for ages and it was really disgusting to watch how they could bend themselves :-D
Sunday, 02.10.:
Sunday was supposed to be a day of rest, which we didn't pay attention to... ****!!!!
Because on the island, we wanted to go snorkeling with the sharks (the sharks here don't have teeth) and wanted to do the hike that many people praised. Yes, so both fell through unfortunately and we accompanied the locals to church, where it was very hot and lasted for 2 hours... But it was very interesting to see that at least once in my life :-)
After church, there was lunch and then we lay down on the beach and I went snorkeling again :-)
We then returned to the main island at 3:30 pm.
@Laura: Hahaha, looks like there won't be a Christmas after all :-D
Monday, 03.10.:
Since we only had Wi-Fi from 7-10 am, we got up early because we still had to do some university work. After going for a walk and buying a ukulele, we wanted to rent a car and explore the other side of the main island, but apparently, we are here during a very touristy time and therefore there were no more cars available that our budget could afford.
Maybe I can become a musician with my ukulele now :-D
I can already play Happy Birthday a little bit with big gaps :-D
So we were stuck in Nadi and planned to study for another 1.5 days.
In the evening, I played my ukulele and learned how to play Happy Birthday. After trying Kava = homemade local drink, which tasted like dirty water, we went to sleep.
The night was a horror because from 4-6 am there were 3 couples around us (one in the next room, one in another room opposite us, and one in the house next door) who thought they had to make love a little too loudly.. Thank god at some point louder music started playing and we didn't have to listen to too much...
Tuesday, 04.10.:
After breakfast, I wrote a bit of my essay while waiting for the pick-up service and then lay in the sun for a bit, we arrived at the airport and waited until we could fly.
When I got home, I immediately did my laundry and Nici and her cousin cooked for us. :-)
After dinner, I did a bit more university work and then went to bed.
Wednesday, 05.10.:
Today I continued working on my presentation and my essay.
Thursday, 06.10.:
Today too, I sat at my desk/library all day.
Friday, 07.10.:
Studied and worked
Saturday, 08.10.:
Wrote an exam in Investment and then worked on my presentation. And worked from 7-10 pm. Today was my last day of work, as the study phase for the final exams is about to begin :-(.
After work, I skyped with Laura :-) and then went to bed.
Sunday, 09.10.:
Just during breakfast preparation, Sandra, Julia, Caro, and Jenny called on Face-Time. Thanks for the entertainment - it was once again very amusing with you all :-D hahaha. I hope you didn't get thrown out of the tent right away and had a little party :-P
