The frog concert ended around 7:30 PM, by then the birds were long done. Instead, you can hear the waves of the Pacific all the more. They do not take a break!

This morning it was time to generously apply sunscreen, as we were heading out on the water. We had booked a tour with 'Cape Byron Kayaks' for 10 AM, planned to be 2.5 hours on the Pacific, and if possible, we should observe dolphins. 30 people were quickly 'dressed up', meaning helmets and life vests were adjusted, then the kayaks were pulled to the beach, and off we went, battling waves of up to 1.5 to 2 meters high, always in pairs. Arm strength and coordination were required. We fared quite well, as the majority of participants were not half our age. Of course, one or the other wave splashed over us. But the water is warm. Some found it fun to capsize - we did not! We paddled to the easternmost tip of Australia, below the lighthouse. However, we did not see any dolphins. Therefore, there is an option to repeat this tour for free, anytime! But we are already booked for tomorrow! As a reward, everyone received a chocolate wafer, we had earned those calories. We went back into the water afterward, our swimwear was already wet. Refreshing, the waves were intense. Behind the dunes, there are showers and toilets everywhere, so changing clothes is no issue. Quickly loaded the wet things into the car, and then we walked along the coastal path to the lighthouse, which was built in 1901. It is supposed to be one of the prettiest in Australia. At least it is in very good condition and visible from afar. You start sweating, as it logically goes uphill. There are beach accesses everywhere, and no overcrowding. Along the way, we discovered the emergency kit in case of a shark attack. What's inside? We do not know. But they must be very small sharks... Also, stylish two-wheeled bikes, of course battery-operated, are popular here. We did not see any koalas, although there are warning signs everywhere to drive slowly; instead, there were birds chirping everywhere. A few words about the two birds. On the left is the kookaburra, also known as 'laughing Jack', which we already had in our view. It is the largest representative of the kingfishers. On the right is the magpie, similar to our magpie. However, it belongs to the flute-crow starlings. Learned something new! The descent from the lighthouse was quite intense, so from now on, a hiking pole will be part of the 'gear', as a woman never knows how the paths will turn out. We discovered a wonderful holiday spot where you feel everyone has time and wants to relax. On the way back, we replenished our supplies at Aldi, as the accommodations often do not provide breakfast, as already mentioned. Today the microwave was tested, spaghetti Bolognese won against lasagna! At the bottleshop, we picked up our holiday drink 'Corona Extra'. It is available worldwide! But all alcohol is sold here in specialty stores - but we no longer need to show ID! At the end of the day, there are still 2 shots of our tent, which really has everything one might need.
