03.01.2018 - Arenal Volcano National Park 1968

After the rain cleared and Dirk, the German tenant of the lodge, gave us some good tips, we went to the national park that was formed after the eruption in 1968. It has, among other things, the longest lava trail in Costa Rica and is hardly visited. The big round tour was about 6 km and quite exhausting, but very rewarding, as you really walk through the rainforest and further up on the lava trail, which was formed after the eruption (by the way, the volcano had been quiet for 400 years before and was considered inactive ....)

At the end of the day, the obligatory coffee in La Fortuna and dinner in a restaurant where you were addressed in Spanish.

You don't really need Spanish here (which I find very sad). Most people, especially in the tourist areas, speak English well and don't want to speak Spanish, especially not with people who don't speak it as well...: - )
