Tag 31 - Panama City, solid ground under the feet

The two speedboats for pick-up were almost on time. After about 40 minutes of driving on the mainland of Panama, we were dropped off at a "harbor". From there, after another outstanding performance by the local staff, we continued to Panama City by SUVs 🚙. The journey took another two and a half hours. But special service: everyone was individually delivered to their pre-booked hotel.

We had booked an apartment hotel, a really large room and bathroom. After the tightness of the past few days, we spread out and took a long shower first. Then we walked to the old town - about an hour's walk along the sea from our hotel. Panama is a modern metropolis, consisting mainly of high-rise buildings, with a beautiful skyline, but also a very beautiful old town.

Everything here is a bit more expensive again. Only US dollars are accepted. There is indeed its own currency, the Balboa, but there are only coins. The exchange rate is 1:1 and fixed to the US dollar.

After dinner, we were glad to lie in a real bed again and slept like babies.
