Welcome to Kampot in the headline. As you can see from the writing, we have traveled to a different country. We are now in Cambodia 🇰🇭 We were in Kampot from 03.05. to 05.05.<p><figure><img src='/uploads/36d85270-7136-11e9-9b1e-35cd3b3af79d.jpeg_large.jpg' alt/></figure><figure><br/></figure><figure>We took a bus from the Mekong Delta to the border town of Ha Tien (🇻🇳). Arriving in the afternoon, we found out that buses to Cambodia only run twice a day: in the morning and at noon 😕 A taxi driver promptly approached us and offered us a private ride. Due to our rickshaw experience, we were initially very hesitant and skeptical. We confirmed the price multiple times and finally drove to the border in a car. First, we had to check out of Vietnam (the officer showed no emotions: no tears 😜, no friendly ciao) and then check in to Cambodia a few meters away. The visa for 30 days can be obtained smoothly for a fee of 35 dollars 💵 per person. We reached Kampot in the early evening.</figure><figure>Kampot may be familiar to some as one of the best pepper-producing regions in the world.</figure><figure>We experienced the calm and relaxed atmosphere during a walk through the streets and alleys. Kampot doesn't offer any unique attractions, but the city as a whole is very beautiful. It simply has a cozy atmosphere 🥰</figure><figure><br/></figure><figure><img src='/uploads/35f27790-713c-11e9-9b1e-35cd3b3af79d.jpeg_large.jpg' alt/></figure><figure><br/></figure><figure>We did discover something bizarre though. Since we needed new spices, we took a tour of the plantations. With this vehicle, we were about to experience a turbulent but very fun ride.</figure><figure><br/></figure><figure><img src='/uploads/78ee3300-7136-11e9-9b1e-35cd3b3af79d.jpeg_large.jpg' alt/></figure></p><figure><br/></figure><figure>The turbulence came from the fact that the roads were more like gravel tracks with many potholes. We were shaken quite a bit, which amused us a lot. On the way, we made a short stop at the Secret Lake. We didn't find out what secret the lake holds.</figure><figure><br/></figure><figure><img src='/uploads/7dd11d60-7136-11e9-9b1e-35cd3b3af79d.jpeg_large.jpg' alt/></figure><figure><br/></figure><figure>Finally, we arrived at "La Plantation". This plantation also supports several social projects with its profits, including a nearby school 🤩🤗</figure><figure><br/></figure><figure><img src='/uploads/f0977060-7136-11e9-9b1e-35cd3b3af79d.jpeg_large.jpg' alt/></figure><figure><br/></figure><figure>The tour of the plantation was very interesting and informative. We learned how red or black pepper is produced and got to know long pepper.</figure><figure><img src='/uploads/aecb9120-7136-11e9-9b1e-35cd3b3af79d.jpeg_large.jpg' alt/></figure><figure><br/></figure><figure>We didn't envy the ladies their job. Unfortunately, we don't have any concrete figures.</figure><figure><br/></figure><figure><img src='/uploads/749be780-7144-11e9-9b1e-35cd3b3af79d.jpeg_large.jpg' alt/></figure><figure><br/></figure><figure>At the end, we got to taste the numerous varieties of pepper and spices from the plantation. It became too spicy for Coline at times. Jeff thoroughly enjoyed it. And of course, we also bought two types of pepper.</figure><figure>The final stop on our tour were fields where sea salt is produced. Since it rained today, we only saw rainwater in the fields and not much else - luckily, we were able to watch a film about salt production.</figure><figure><br/></figure><figure><img src='/uploads/625efa90-7143-11e9-9b1e-35cd3b3af79d.jpeg_large.jpg' alt/><figcaption></figcaption></figure><figure><br/></figure><figure>During our walks in Kampot, we made a special observation: there were noticeably many elderly men traveling alone. Some of them were also seen with much younger Cambodian women. Relaxation in the Mekong Delta
