Day 1

On Sunday, I slept in. At 12 o'clock, I went to the gas station/supermarket around the corner to get breakfast, which surprisingly was open on Sundays. Since I was still very tired, I grabbed my headphones and towel and laid down on the beach again to doze off. Around 5 pm, I returned to the hostel, took a shower, and went back to the beach to watch the sunset. Back at the hostel, I actually wanted to sort some pictures, but was approached by two girls who asked if I wanted to join them to get burgers. So we made our way there. First, we walked to a store that was closed. Therefore, we went in the other direction and found a store where I got a fish burger. When I got back to the hostel, I went straight to bed as I was still tired.

Day 2

The next day, I got up early and rented a bike from the rental around the corner. I rode towards the 'city' first and then around the entire island, 32 km, to get an overview. Surprisingly, there was a lot of traffic, but mostly scooters. There is a road that goes around the entire island, which I also rode on. The road has many potholes, which I felt through the hard saddle. In the middle of the island, there are some mountain peaks, which looks pretty interesting because there are no houses around the mountains, only along the main road. Almost everything is built around the road, it's rare not to see a house with a garden along the road. The city Avura, the largest in the Cook Islands, is comparable to a small holiday resort. There is a grocery store, many tourist shops, a few restaurants, and everything else a city needs to function, like a hairdresser, a police station, or a laundromat, for example. Back at the hostel, I laid down on the beach again and enjoyed the sun. The temperatures were around 24 degrees, slightly cloudy. After that, I went back to Avarua to get flip-flops because my shoes were too hot and sweaty in the temperatures. Back at the hostel, I enjoyed the sunset again and then had dinner. When I went to bed later, I realized that I need to do more sports when I get back home. I drove 50 km and can clearly feel it in my thighs.

Day 3

Today, I was woken up by a concert of roosters. It felt like every rooster on the island was making noise, which was quite annoying. I let myself be persuaded by my mom to book a one-day trip to Aitutaki, including a flight, lagoon tour, sightseeing, and food. Aitutaki is said to have one of the most beautiful lagoons in the world. So after breakfast, I drove to Avarua to book the trip. Since the confirmation needed some time, I looked around the city for a bit and had something to eat. I could clearly feel the effort of the previous day, my shoulders/neck and legs are exhausted. My butt is still sore from the hard saddle, at first I couldn't ride the bike properly. After booking, I went back to the hostel and to the rental, where I borrowed snorkeling equipment. There were some problems with my wide feet, so I got swim fins that are not normally rented out. With the equipment, I went to the nearby diving spot and looked for fish.

Later, I laid down in the sun again, even though it wasn't perfect because of the clouds that kept blocking the sun, but what are those worries compared to :)
