Early in the morning, we went to Puerto Montt and then straight to Puerto Varas. 2,500 km further south than Arica. Since the flight went via Santiago with a 5-hour wait for the connection, the whole thing took the whole day, but in the end, you arrive in a completely different world.
Even the flight was impressive with lakes and volcanoes (this time I had a window seat again) and when you arrive in Puerto Varas, you feel more like in Switzerland or the Black Forest. It's no wonder that the German immigrants chose this corner of Chile to settle down. Home is just the best.
Although I was really exhausted, I went for a walk through the city, which looks completely different from all the previous cities, but I underestimated that it gets quite chilly towards sunset, but an Austral (beer from Patagonia) and an excellent pizza overlooking the lake were a nice end to a long day...
