It was already raining heavily when we woke up, had a quick breakfast, and got into the fully packed car. When we arrived at Mammoth Cave, the weather still hadn't improved. However, it didn't dampen our excitement for the Domes and Dripstones Tour at all.
We arrived at the meeting point on time, and finally started at 11 o'clock. The whole group, about 110 people, was driven to the cave entrance in 3 buses. In single file, we descended the stairs into the well-lit cave. In 2 large sections, the entire group could sit on wooden benches while the ranger leading us answered questions. It became eerie when she turned off the lights for a short time and we all sat in darkness. It was a very unsettling feeling...
After a total of 2 interesting hours, the highly recommended tour was already over, but the rain was still there...
So we embarked on the escape to Nashville, which is about 120 km to the south. We successfully arrived at our destination, and the sun was shining. What's more, for the first time on our vacation, we could do without wearing a jacket!
Checking in at the 'Sleep Inn' went smoothly. The room also completely met our expectations.
March 17th, there was something else....right: St. Patrick's Day or as the Americans say: St. Paddy's.
We headed to Broadway, the party mile of Nashville. After a quick meal at Jack's BBQ, we chose one of the many clubs where live music was presented to the thirsty crowd.
