Whitsunday Islands - is freedom living here?

Where does freedom live? I should write three sentences on this question during one of my writing trips. Interestingly, I have a different answer to this question almost every day. On Friday, January 17, I might have answered:

Freedom lives in the breeze of the speedboat that takes us to the Whitsunday Islands. It is in the laughter of Lauren and me, sitting at the edge of the boat, bouncing up and down with it over the waves. Freedom is in the curiosity I have towards this huge spider that has spun its web between two wooden beams and, strangely enough, does not scare me at all. I find it on an observation platform and in the kindness of a man who takes my phone from my hand to capture my happy face. Freedom is the bright white sand of Whitehaven Beach beneath my feet and the clear sea water, from which I splash droplets into the air above me with my hands. I feel free as I let myself fall backward into the water, wearing a snorkel mask, fins, and a stinger suit, and seeing the reef in its colorful splendor for the first time. I hope the turtle that suddenly appears beside me knows what its freedom is; I cannot quite read its gaze as I dive underwater next to it and we look at each other for a moment. I see freedom in the faces of others, in the embrace of two girls who have become friends in just 5 days, in the pride of the one who is showered with gratitude for preserving the memory of the turtle in a photo, and in the gentle finger caresses of the couple that has found each other in the group. Freedom is closely related to the spark of nonsense in me that makes me tumble around the boat when we arrive back and drink two Aperols before we have eaten anything, so I later buy 2 shorts and a T-shirt even though I have no space in my bag. Freedom accompanies us all day and carries us from the water to the island, back to the mainland, and into a bar where a guitarist makes us dance.

So is this the answer? Freedom lives on 01/17/2025 in Australia, at sea and on land, it lives on the Whitsunday Islands, at Whitehaven Beach?

Maybe a little bit, yes.
But most of all, freedom lives for me on that day in the awareness of the incredible luck I have to experience all these things, that I am healthy enough, wealthy enough, and present enough to see the world this way. To whomever or whatever I should send this gratitude, I hope it reaches them: Thank you!
