Taupo - almost everything is just right

From our Maori accommodation, we head straight to Taupo. There are plenty of action activity options: skydiving, swing jumping, bungee... I actually want to overcome my last hurdle and definitely try bungee jumping. But today just doesn’t feel right. So we let ourselves be dropped off as a group of three at the Haka Falls (waterfalls again!) and hike along the river to Taupo, where we will spend the night. And that is just right, because the river is beautiful with such unbelievably clear water that you can see the bottom from far away. Upon arriving at the hostel, we take care of some annoying household tasks like storing food and doing laundry before heading to the lake, where we swim and lounge lazily in the sun. A slow afternoon. And that is just right, because we are all a bit exhausted from the busy past few days.
In the evening, after a stop at a restaurant, we sit on the hostel terrace - just right because there's a beautiful sunset. We laugh and snack on pea chips, and we’ll open the wine a little later because it was stolen from us (or rather the one who bought it) by a group of Dutch women. They don’t know our two basic rules of the group, which are:
1. Always have fun. 2. Never get caught.
They break Rule 2 by sitting down with the wine bottles in the common room, where they are confronted by our very tough American girl. She is not satisfied with 'It was an honest mistake, you can have one bottle back.'; she naturally wants her two bottles back. So the embarrassed young woman lets her boyfriend drive her to the supermarket, and we actually feel a bit sorry for her (she was very down, while the guy acted as if nothing happened), until she comes back. Because now she demands an apology from our American girl, 'because you made me feel bad.' No words - that is really not right.
Admittedly, we have to laugh a lot about the story because it is so absurd. But it also brings fun and lightheartedness. And that is just right.
