Blue on Moreton Island

Surprise - actually, the trip to Moreton Island was canceled? Luckily, WeRoad (the provider of my trip) operates in different countries and a British and a French group are also traveling along the Australian east coast just one day apart. Since we met them on New Year's Eve on the boat, I’ve made connections and the French tour guide managed to organize an extra spot in the group for me. Yay! The only downside: Today, the weather is REALLY worse. The ferry ride takes about an hour and while it’s not raining, it is windy and cold. For all those who would now advise me to just go inside: In Australia, inside is generally colder than outside, even if it’s windy and raining - the air conditioning is usually set to a feel-like temperature of 16 degrees Celsius (sometimes not just feels like it; in some hotel rooms, it was actually like that). The island is pretty, but really very touristy, and it keeps raining..
Since the sky is mostly gray today, I just count other blue things: our kayak, my lips after an hour of snorkeling, the credit card I use to pay for my coffee, the uniforms of the resort staff, the lockers that keep an eye on my things, the hoodie I borrow when I feel cold, the stripes on those fish that glide weightlessly through the water, the sea when the sun finally peeks through the clouds, the blueberries in the muffin piece that I decline.
With a 5-minute delay (of course very un-German), I arrive at the kickoff meeting of my next group - I’m told that I really make effective use of my time (of course very German). I am very excited because everything is different: the group is larger, international (USA, Ireland, UK, Canada...) and much younger. Off to the next adventure!
