February 5th, 2020 and February 6th, 2020, painting, painting, painting and German lessons

Published: 21.02.2020

On Wednesday, I started renewing the paintings on the walls because the paint is now chipping off due to strong sunlight. Honestly, it's really an annoying job because the paint starts to become sticky and thick after about five minutes. Probably because of the heat, but luckily we bought a solvent that makes the paint smoother again.

The kids were all very excited when they saw me starting to repaint the motifs, and one class helped me during their art class.
But I think, despite the help of the children, it will take a very long time until all the motifs are renewed, simply because of the difficult conditions with the heat..
In addition, especially the kindergarten children tend to constantly touch the renewed motifs. That is really annoying because some children don't listen at all and
keep doing it again and again.

After school, I went shopping all by myself for the first time. James kindly wrote me a note with the stops and even made a little drawing on it. With that, I found my way to the supermarket perfectly and for me, it was a cool experience to accomplish that alone and find my way.
As already mentioned, the traffic situation here is not easy.

When I got home, I fortunately noticed that our well is filled with water again.
And then I actually managed to do the laundry. It was slowly becoming urgent :D

On Tuesday, I started painting again right away, and I'm really glad to still be working in the shade at the moment.
I'm a bit dreading next week when I have to paint the walls that are in the sun all day long.
At the end of the school day, I had my first real lesson with the 5th grade.
But unfortunately, we only have half an hour every Thursday, so we can't accomplish that much.
Today, I taught the children how to greet each other, say goodbye, and how to ask for someone's name in German.
Surprisingly, the children quickly got the hang of it and all diligently wrote down the sentences from the board.
The pronunciation went pretty well too.
Let's see how much of it sticks next week... :D
