Asiatique-the Riverside Destination
Who doesn’t know “Groundhog Day”. The same routine as yesterday morning, only now I still have a cold and shahaat

Today we’re heading to Tokyo.
Last night, shortly after we returned from the Asiatique market, the heavenly floodgates opened loudly, with thunder and lightning, and it rained buckets.
Schahaatz starts the day, as he does every day (very exemplary), with yoga,

while I can still finish my dreams.
Enjoying the delicious breakfast one last time before the shuttle picks us up. If I weren't already sick, I would have been by the time we got in the car. I had to put on a jacket in between 🥶🥶.

The flight lasted just under 6 hours. Time for at least 2 movies. Until halfway through Bohemian Rhapsody, the flight was quite calm, but at the first lines of the song Bohemian Rhapsody “Mama ooh ooh oh,” it got so bumpy that I thought, you don’t want to crash during such a beautiful song. That would have been silly; who would have been able to tell you that I cried my eyes out during half of the movie - and Freddie Mercury died far too early.
Thai Airlines really convinced me. More legroom,

really delicious food (they proved that airplane food can also be tasty), good service, and almost all movies in German. Only the landing could have been a bit smoother.

And then we’re here, in Japan’s capital, Tokyo.
Endless paths to the luggage carousel and our first encounter with high-tech toilets. If you want, you can use them like a normal toilet, but you can also have warm water wash your bottom or use the bidet function. The seat can also be pre-warmed. At the public bathroom in the airport, they even played loud waterfall sounds until you flushed. This way, your neighbors don’t have to hear your noises. - clever, right? 😜
What’s different at the airport are the food detection dogs. They walk along the luggage carousels and sniff the carry-on luggage for items like bread, sausage, burgers, but also all kinds of fruits. The import of food is prohibited in Japan along with drugs. Oh, and I had a few grapes in my Tupperware. Thanks to my self-declaration, I only had to throw away the fruit, while the young woman next to us, where the dog indicated, had her whole container disposed of. Yes, sometimes a self-declaration is the better way.

Now we are in the land of the, for us, strange characters

and of efficient and punctual public transport. We immediately found the right train, unfortunately it didn’t stop at the station where we actually had to get off. But that’s not a problem for two public transport pros like us. Next stop, get off the train - first impression of why one should travel with light luggage (no escalators or elevators), so down the stairs and back up and off with the next train to get back - and finally get off at the right stop. And here's our second impression

of why one should travel with light luggage.

What was still dry on our bodies until now was soaked with sweat after this climb up the stairs. After the evening fitness program, we took 2 turns around the corner and crossed 3 streets and we are finally at the hotel - at last. The temperatures here aren’t any cooler than in Bangkok, and at 0:30 Tokyo isn’t exactly bustling.
And then our room, just as described in the travel reports, and why one shouldn’t travel with large luggage. Quite small, to say the least, tiny to be exact.

Just about 15 square meters including the bathroom and hallway, without a closet, but with a mini fridge, kettle, and high-tech toilet.
From now on it’s living out of the suitcase - day by day.
