Our landlord in Kaikoura told us there was a big mountain here.

We didn't see it.

Travel day. To Kaiteriteri, 358 km away, at the entrance to Abel Tasman National Park. Where the Dutchman Abel Janszoon Tasman discovered New Zealand in 1642, but never set foot on land. Yesterday we were in Kaikoura at the museum, there was nothing else to do in the rain, and we visited the exhibition about the earthquake in 2016. If you've ever experienced an earthquake yourself, you can empathize with what people have been through. Today we drove along the mountains,

which slid down back then and buried the highway and the railway line underneath.

Even today, parts of the highway are still under construction

and the railway line was reopened just before our arrival. And with the images from the exhibition in my mind, I suddenly felt a sense of unease, almost like fear. That's when the seals came along the roadside, a welcome distraction.

Can you find them?

And I was glad when we finally got out of the area. We continued along the coast,

through "Tele-Tabbi-Land"

and through New Zealand's wine-growing region.

300 km in pouring rain.

New Zealand doesn't make it easy to love it.

Just in time for the round of Frisbee Golf in Nelson, the rain stopped. Yay, let's go.

Throwing 18 baskets will surely be good after sitting so much. The court is beautifully designed with many trees and a stream.

You also had to play over the stream now and then. It happened at the 9th basket. The disc made it safely to the other side, so did I...... almost. Well, I successfully managed the first stone for the stream crossing. Unfortunately, the second one was a bit slippery. I tried to regain my balance, but it happened as it had to. I fell, like a felled oak, flat into the water. Splash. I guess staying dry is not my thing. But now I didn't care about the rain starting again.

After our subsequent shopping tour, I was dry again, except for my shoes and thanks to the functional underwear.

We arrived in Little Kaiteriteri and moved into our apartment. It's amazing. A penthouse apartment overlooking the bay.

3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms with a pool, sauna, hot tub, and a huge TV.

Here we will relax for 4 days and enjoy the view.
