In the morning, we explored Wellington a bit. First on foot, where we also briefly visited the New Zealand Museum 'Te Papa'. Visiting the museum is optional. We then drove up to Mount Victoria by car, which offers a wonderful view of the city. However, overall, Wellington didn't impress us much.
In the afternoon, we continued north to the land of volcanoes, Ohakune, at the entrance to Tongariro National Park (about 300 km). We are staying at the B&B 'Ruhapehu Country Lodge', a bit outside with a beautiful and well-maintained property and actually a view of the 'Ruhapehu' volcano. Unfortunately, it is hidden deep in the clouds. Maybe it will come out tomorrow...
