Thrown into town

Published: 06.11.2023

I'm sitting in a small bus shelter in a parking lot in Airlie Beach. I'm waiting here for my shuttle to the airport. A little boy comes to me and asks me "Is this the bus stop?" "Yes, the buses to the airport go here." He looks at my big backpack: "Is there a parachute in there?"

Yes, I travel with a lot of luggage, on every flight they put a hanger on my backpack: heavy bag! It's not that difficult. I can finally wear it. But I can now collect the pendants too :)

Proserpine Airport is small. Tiny. Nobody wants to see my passport. Online ticket is enough!

There are 3 gates, they will probably never be used, at least not at the same time. Especially since the “gates” here are simple doors to the outside of the runway.

We take the plane to the next place. The flight is short and painless. After landing, I look for my “heavy bag” and make my way to the train. Everything is very close and can be reached quickly on foot. I travel underground almost the entire time on the train and I can't see anything from outside. My stop is in the middle of the city. I get off the train, walk up the stairs to the exit and stand in the middle of the high-rise buildings. I feel really thrown into the city. There was no slow approach. I couldn't see the city "growing", but rather I was right in the middle of it.

Hello Sydney! After many days in quiet places - on the beach, in the forest, in the national park, on a mountaintop - I am now a bit amazed. The big streets with lots of cars, lots of people who know their paths. I have to process all of this briefly and sleep on it for a night...
