Monuments are the questionable question marks of history, because most people ask: 'Who was that anyway?' (Erhard Blanck)

We have no idea whom or what all these statues are dedicated to, but there is no shortage of them in Katharinenburg.

Aside from photo sessions in the best Adidas uniform, we explored the city on the Ural under bright sunshine.

The most famous historical landmark in the city is the Cathedral on the Blood. It stands on the spot where the Ipatiev House was until 1977, in whose basement the Bolsheviks assassinated the last Tsar Nicholas II and his family on the night of 16-17 July 1918. This place has now become a place of pilgrimage for supporters of the Russian monarchy.

The safety precautions and working conditions on site are also of interest. While practically every kebab shop here has its own security service, we walked across a bridge over the Isset today. At the beginning of the bridge, a guy the size of a hairdresser waved at us. We were supposed to stop. Somewhat confused, we looked around and bam, a tree fell in front of our feet. A worker without a helmet, goggles, ear protection, or cut-resistant trousers felled it so elegantly that it hit the pavement but narrowly missed the busy road... The hairdresser grinned at us and made it clear that we could now continue.

A visit to the Yeltsin Center is on the agenda for tomorrow before we head east again in the evening.

We are now going to take a cold shower and go to bed. YES, hot water is out until 21.08 - probably 2018, because yesterday they said there would be hot water again today... You can't expect hot water in a three-star hotel either.
