Järvakandi
Järvakandi, Estonia

Route: 85 kilometers, cumulative: 1,140 kilometers | Elevation: 240, cumulative elevation: 4,430 meters, distance from home: 1,702 kilometers (as the crow flies).

As today marked the start of my actual Baltic tour, I didn’t want to have a big breakfast. So I only took something to drink and a banana. I brought it along so I would have something during my first break after 30 kilometers.

My usual tour pattern includes a short break after 30 kilometers and a longer one after at least 50 kilometers. After that, I take some short breaks depending on the length of the tour, time, and weather. In between, there are a few stops to take photos for my blog.

There are very few villages on my route in Estonia where there are also options for overnight stays. Thus, I had to start with a short tour. Järvakandi provided such an opportunity, and there is also a small shop here. The next place is already too far away.

The weather looked better than yesterday, although it was cool and cloudy. I set off shortly after half past eight. First, I had to cross Tallinn, then I headed out into the countryside via bike paths, and the traffic steadily decreased until only a few cars passed.

That was a good thing, as soon there were only roads that also had to accommodate bicycles. Just 20 kilometers from the destination, it started to drizzle. However, as it intensified, I took advantage of the nice bus shelter a bit off the road to wait for the shower to pass. I had more than enough time.

The stretch to the destination was almost completely straight, and I was making good progress. The landscape was beautiful but monotonous, so I only took a few photos.

Since the restaurant closes at 6 PM, I have to go out again, but on foot, since everything is right in the neighborhood.

If you have any questions for me, I’m happy to answer them.
