After arriving, the first thing to do was to take a walk around the city. Good news: I found an Italian ice cream parlor (yippee) and treated myself to a 2-scoop portion in a cone. Bad news: it tasted rather plain. I had a similar experience the same evening in a second ice cream parlor, where I ordered a cup of Amarena (purely out of self-defense, because I had low blood sugar...). Here too, taste and quality were of secondary importance, and very expensive... Thankfully, the next day I found an ice cream parlor that could meet the highest quality standards (mine...).
Otherwise, the pedestrian zone and the spa area look pretty nice and well-kept; I think I can live here well... An Indian restaurant and other culinary highlights are lined up close together here. The food in the clinic tastes very good, though, so I'll probably only have to return to the offerings in town sporadically.
The next day (May 9th) is Ascension Day and I attend an ecumenical service with salon orchestra music accompaniment in the Wandelhalle in the Kurhaus (photo above). In the afternoon there is a concert in the Church of the Redeemer (photo) as part of the recorder festival, which takes place here in BK every year. Today the recorder festival orchestra is playing with 90 players - cool, I've never experienced that before... By the way, I can also practice the organ in this church during opening hours if I feel like it.
There will be more concerts in this context in the next few days, all of which will feature different music and line-ups. I will be there as a listener everywhere. There are no treatments on public holidays and at weekends, so I have plenty of time for leisure activities...
